GA Conference 2 - ULearn

Charles Worth and his Infomapper products have been through a number of evolutions over the years.

The latest developments of ULearn are listed below, with thanks to Charles for passing on the details:

uLearn has always offered a useful way of accessing a variety of maps through their online GIS. As well as the national, international, current, historic, map, aerial, and thematic data that uLearn provides to all, over 30 Authorities (plus the entire Republic of Ireland) have now included detailed local mapping data in uLearn.

Getting to the resource you want is now almost instant - just a tick and a click!

uLearn has a brand new Geographical Topic structure. All the user has to do is log in, tick the concept they wish to study. uLearn’s library now contains an enormous amount of information. It also draws data directly from the web. In an effort to remove every possible barrier between pupils and exciting learning using GIS they have identified that one of the few remaining issues is the inevitable time taken to upload resources (especially video or high quality images).

Users who purchase a maps license will shortly be offered an ‘automatic upload’ service. Users will be able to send us a CD of (up to a certain number of) resources, and uLearn will upload the resources and place them in the user’s account. The user will then be able simply to drag and drop their resources onto a map as desired! All of the pleasure, none of the pain!!

And how much does uLearn cost?

Any school can access the whole of uLearn (including all its maps) without charge for 14 days. If they decide to purchase a maps license it will only cost £95 (Primary) or £295 (Secondary).

Check out the uLEARN website.
